Central Bankers Begin Busy May with Mixed League and Airtel Top 8 Results

The Central Bankers, Malawi's men's senior football team, have kicked off their competitive football season in May with a mix of league and Airtel Top 8 matches. After starting the season with a curtain raiser against Mighty Wanderers, the team has faced various challenges and triumphs in their first month of competition.

Mixed Results in League and Airtel Top 8

The Central Bankers' league campaign began with a loss against Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium. The team, however, bounced back with a 0-2 win against Kamuzu Barracks at Champions Stadium in Mponela. In the Airtel Top 8, they secured their first victory of the season, defeating Moyale Barracks 1-0 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.

Upcoming Assignments on the Road

The Central Bankers' May schedule is packed with away games. They will first host MAFCO FC in league action on 10th May before traveling to face Songwe United at Karonga Stadium four days later. On 17th May, they will be in Mzuzu for the Airtel Top 8 return leg against Moyale Barracks. A week later, they will face Mighty Wanderers in league action at Kamuzu Stadium.

Silver Reserve, Youth, and Ladies Teams to Begin Their Seasons

While the men's senior team is busy with their matches, the Central Bankers' Silver Reserve, Youth, and Ladies teams will start their own football seasons in the last week of May. The Reserve team will participate in the 2025 Chipiku Central Region Football Association League, while the Youth side will begin their FCB Katswiri Under 19 title defense. The Ladies’ team will compete in the FAM Goshen Women’s Football Regional League.

Impact of Malawi National Football Team's May Engagements

Besides the Malawi National Football Team's engagements in May, where six Central Bankers players have contributed, the month is looking busy for the team. As they focus on their league and Airtel Top 8 assignments, they will also need to ensure that their key players remain in top form for the national team. This presents an exciting challenge for both the team and its management.
