FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Secure Hard-Fought 2-0 Victory Over Mzuzu City Hammers in TNM Super League

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets bounced back from their 1-0 defeat to Blue Eagles on Sunday with a gritty performance against Mzuzu City Hammers in the TNM Super League. Late goals from Chikumbutso Salima and Hassan Kajoke earned Bullets a crucial 2-0 victory at Rumphi Stadium, keeping them within striking distance of log leaders Mighty Wanderers.

The match took place in challenging conditions, with a windy afternoon and a dry and bumpy surface making it difficult for both teams. The first half was characterized by limited clear-cut chances, with Bullets goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu making several important saves to keep the score level.

Despite the difficult conditions, Bullets came out strong in the second half. Coach Peter Mponda made three substitutions at halftime, introducing fresh energy and adding new players to the attack. Bullets pushed forward and finally broke through in the 77th minute through a headed goal by Salima.

Controversy arose in the second half when referee Waliko Simfukwe did not award a penalty to Bullets despite a handball by a Hammers defender in the box. Moments later, Hammers were awarded a penalty, but Nyasulu made a heroic double save to keep the score level.

Galvanized by the moment, Bullets continued to push forward. Peter Banda and Ernest Petro were later introduced, and the breakthrough finally arrived in the 77th minute. A floated free kick into the area found Salima, who rose high to power in a header and give Bullets the deserved lead.

And in the 92nd minute, Bullets sealed the win. Banda whipped in another well-delivered ball, Salima headed it back across goal, and Kajoke nodded in to secure all three points for Bullets.

The victory moves Bullets to 30 points from 14 matches, just three behind Wanderers who are on 33 after the same number of games. Bullets have now won two consecutive games and will travel to Mponela to face MAFCO FC this Sunday before wrapping up the first round with a home fixture against Karonga United.

The race for the top spot in the TNM Super League is heating up, and this result sets up an exciting second round of matches. Stay tuned to Premier Bet for all the latest news and updates from the TNM Super League.
