Silver Strikers' Mgangira Urges Players to Move Past Recent Results and Focus on Defending Championship

Confident Coach Believes Team is Prepared for Ekhaya FC Match

Silver Strikers Head Coach Peter Mgangira has called on his players to put recent disappointing results behind them and focus on the remaining first-round matches, emphasizing their role as defending champions.

Speaking during a pre-match conference held a day before hosting newly promoted Ekhaya FC at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe, Mgangira expressed confidence that his team is prepared to secure maximum points on Saturday.

"The boys are in good shape ahead of this match on Saturday, and they know that the Airtel Top 8 loss is behind them. Now, they are hungry to do more and achieve better results. Right now, we have to fight for the championship. We are the defending champions, so we must do everything we can to earn maximum points," he said.

Silver Strikers return to league action following a cup defeat on Sunday. Prior to that, the team earned two points by drawing with MAFCO (0-0) at home and Moyale (1-1) away at Rumphi Stadium. Mgangira believes these past results do not influence Saturday’s game, stating that this will be a completely different match.

Ekhaya FC to Travel to Silver Stadium After Securing 3-0 Victory

Ekhaya FC will travel to Silver Stadium after securing a 3-0 victory against Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre. Mgangira acknowledged the challenge posed by the newly promoted team but expressed optimism that his team can come out on top.

Injuries and Availability Affect Team Performance

Silver Strikers will be without Emmanuel Allan, Festus Duwe, and Dan Sandukila due to injuries. However, captain Chikondi Kamanga, Precious Sambani, and Gift Chunga will be available for selection.

"We have injuries, but we have players who can step up and fill in. We have a deep squad, and we will use that to our advantage," Mgangira added.

Upcoming Matches Part of Reserve Bank of Malawi's 60th Anniversary Celebrations

Over the weekend, Silver Strikers will face Ekhaya FC on Saturday and then take on Mighty Wanderers on Sunday at the same venue as part of the Reserve Bank of Malawi’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.

"It's an honor to be part of such a historic occasion. We are looking forward to putting on a good show for the fans and making the Reserve Bank proud," Mgangira concluded.

The Central Bankers will be hoping to bounce back from their recent setbacks and secure a win against Ekhaya FC to keep their title defense on track.
